This App is no longer available
I don’t know a single person without a smartphone now and in this day and age, though I am sure there is someone out there. Also everyone I know ends up with piles of receipts, you know just incase needing to take something back and they breed in a drawer somewhere! Why not put that smartphone and receipts to good use to earn yourself some extra money? This is Receipt Hog and why it is a must have for gamers.
What is Receipt Hog and How does it work?
Receipts are a common factor of everyday life and Receipt Hog gives you the ability to earn money from those receipts you would normally forget in a drawer (I have had some receipts go back over 10 years!) or just throw away.
So how does it work you say? Well.
You will earn a certain amount of in-app coins in exchange for uploading a photo of your receipts to Receipt Hog, this is simple as all you will need to do is allow the app access to your phone camera and then taking a clear photograph of the receipt via the app. Once you have finished the photo or photos depending on how big your receipt is, then you will be asked a couple of questions. These are over in just a couple of taps.
The receipt will then be uploaded and you will gain some coins once the receipt has been verified. Once you have reached enough coins then you can exchange them for an Amazon gift card or for cash into your PayPal.
The more you have spent then the more coins you earn.
Hog Slots, rewards & Sweepstakes
There is another way to earn extra coins and be entered into a monthly competition, plus it can be a little fun too.
Certain receipts will earn you a spin on their Hog Slots (their Fruit Machine, Puggy, Slots whatever you wish to call it!). With these spins you gain the chance to earn extra coins, £66 cash or be a Daily Winner who will have their last shopping or restaurant trip paid for by Receipt Hog!
Receipt Hog also like being given receipts often (the pig on screen will be sad if you haven’t uploaded in a while), as such they will reward you will extra coins and spins each week you are uploading and a level system with better rewards the higher you are.
There is even a sweepstakes that occurs each month in which you can earn up to 5,000 in-app coins. Each receipt that you upload will give you a entry into the sweepstake.
What Receipts can I Upload?
Now what receipts do they want to see? Every damn kind of official receipt from a store! Big chains, small stores, restaurants they will have them! As long as the receipt is clear, understandable and complete with the store name, purchases, date & transaction total on the receipt.

They really do like any all and all sorts of receipts don’t they as I can’t think of any stores that would be missed off that list. As I said though the receipt will need to show the store name, purchases, date and transaction total. You can even use the receipts of others in the household!
As stated they won’t accept receipts that are over a certain age, which is 14 days. Also be aware that you will not earn coins for uploading more than three receipts from the same store on the same day. If you have more than three receipts from the same store upload the rest the next day so that you can get all your coins.

So why do Receipt Hog want my Receipts
This might be a question some of you are currently thinking. Why do they want my old receipts enough they are willing to pay me in cash or Amazon gift cards?
It is simple, they are a Market Research company that work with consumer goods brands. The data collected from receipts will be summarized into market research reports for brands to purchase to gain insight into the current markets and spending habits of people. No personal is sold, and it is all kept anonymous, so that side will never be sold.
Is it worth it?
In my honest opinion … Yes it is!
It can take less than a minute to snap the photo, answer the questions and upload the receipt.
It is so easy to build up your pot over the year with the receipts you will get. I always save up for around the £20, so 5,300 coins, as it is easy goal and can hit this once or twice a year. I will often forget to upload receipts as well.
At the end of the day it is money that you wouldn’t have otherwise.
Make the most of it
There are more than one receipt app out there and what is great is that you can use them all at the same time to earn money.
Each works differently from each other so if you are interesting in getting more bang for your buck then check out my other posts on Shoppix. I mean you might well right? Your phone will already be out with a pile of receipts.
